HAPPY birthday to Heritage College.
The Narre Warren South school celebrated its 10th birthday on Wednesday 18 November, with past staff and students invited back to school to mark the occasion with the current staff, students and parents.
Peter Derrick, who was the first principal at the school from 1999 to 2000, and Pastor Darren Pratt, the chaplain and school council chairman during the same years, also attended the event.
Mr Derrick said back when the school began there were only 45 students in Prep to Year 6, compared to the school now having 384 students.
Parent Lina Mousaco said some of her favourite things about the school included the Christian staff, family atmosphere and community service.
Heritage College principal Colin Gallagher said the future at the school would continue to focus on a strong Christian values-based approach to education, in a learning environment where the learning potential of each child was fostered.
“Heritage College will be a place where the welfare of all students is nurtured and where self-discipline and a caring concern for others are priorities,” he said.
Mr Gallagher said he looked forward to celebrating the next milestone – 20 years.
The highlight of the ceremony was the cutting of a cake, with guests then enjoying an opportunity to catch up and reacquaint themselves with old friends.
A Powerpoint presentation featuring the development and growth at Heritage College was also shown on the day.
