VILLAGE Cinemas will re-open today, a week after flash floods caused the evacuation of about 1000 people from screenings.
General manager for Village Cinemas at Fountain Gate Robbie Ager said there was extensive water damage to carpet, chairs and plastering.
The cinemas would re-open today, but Mr Ager said he could not confirm how many screens would be operating.
Amid the madness last Thursday, Mr Ager said he had time to laugh when a movie-goer came running out of apocalyptic movie 2012 with his arms over his head screaming “it’s 2012!”
“It put a smile on my face,” Mr Ager said.
He said it was not the best timing, given big movie New Moon was in cinemas, but said the Fountain Gate location would not need to put more screenings on.
“We won’t need to. New Moon is just a movie that’s going to do its own business.
“It’s just amazing the support we’ve been given by Westfield.”
