A POLICE officer from the Casey Traffic Management Unit (TMU) had a lucky escape last week when his motorcycle was struck by a truck in Dandenong.
Casey TMU Acting Sergeant Allen Inderwisch told the News the police officer had pulled over a car on Friday 22 January while on the Princes Highway about 3.35pm and while he was talking to the driver through the passenger side window, a truck hit the back of the motorcycle, pushing it into the rear of the car. According to Acting Sgt Inderwisch, the truck driver was attempting to go around the police motorcycle.
“No one was injured. The truck and car both received minor damage, while the motorcycle was written off as a result of the collision,” he said.
Act Sgt Inderwisch said it was very lucky that no one was injured.
“If the police officer had been standing on the driver’s side, as is fairly normal, then it may have been a different story.”
