CASEY police have released images of two men they wish to speak to in relation to a theft and assault at Westfield Fountain Gate late last year.
Police said the two men, both believed to be aged 18, stole two GHD hair straighteners from U-R-Next Hairdressing on 23 December between 4.40pm and 6.50pm.
Three staff members from the store chased the offenders through the centre, following the men to Adairs Homemaker Centre located along Narre Warren North Road. Police said the witnesses saw the men dump the stolen hair straighteners in a nearby garden before entering Adairs Homemaker Centre.
Leading Senior Constable Robert Kupsch from the Casey Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) told the News one of the witnesses advised the staff in the store to call the police.
Leading Sen Const Kupsch said the witnesses held the entrance door shut, locking the offenders inside the store, as they were attempting to leave. “The men started punching and kicking the doors,” he said. “One of them produced a knife and attempted to cut the hand of one of the witnesses.”
Both men then ran away from the store. The man who assaulted the woman is described as having dark black messy hair and wearing a black T- shirt with a print on the front of it.
The other offender is described as having short light brown hair and wearing a blue T-shirt. The stolen hair straighteners have been valued at $678.
Anyone with information is urged to call Senior Constable Stuart Wright at the Narre Warren police station on 9705 3111.
