A NARRE Warren artist is adding the final touches to her creations as she prepares to unveil the artwork at her first solo exhibition this weekend.
Shaista told the News she was excited about the Hazaragi Art exhibition at the Libran Dogma Gallery in Narre Warren North, which opens on Saturday 6 February.
The gallery, which is a not-for-profit initiative for local emerging artists, is decked out with the 23-year-old’s textured paintings, sculptures, landscapes and prints.
Di Lockwood from the Libran Dogma Gallery said Shaista’s artwork was beautiful, with an interesting mix of influences from her home in Pakistan and her recent studies here in Australia.
“There’s a broad range of art featured in the exhibition,” Ms Lockwood said.
“You can see the influences from her culture with the mosaic decorative style.”
Shaista moved to Australia with her husband two-and-a-half years ago.
She has been studying art for three years, spending two years perfecting her craft and completing a diploma of visual arts at Chisholm TAFE in Frankston.
“I’ve always loved everything about art, whether it’s abstract or landscape,” Shaista said.
“I’m really proud of the exhibition. It looks beautiful.”
Shaista is hoping to study visual arts at Monash University this year, with the aim of becoming a professional artist and primary school art teacher.
