Drawn out year for Endeavour Hills

IT was an anti-climax finish to the year but Endeavour Hills will have to be content with their drawn match against Bayswater at Sydney Pargeter Reserve.
As rains washed out the one-dayer in the final round of the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association, the Hills’ must be happy to just reach the protection of the clubhouse.
In a year to forget, the Hills won only the three games for the season and finished 18 points outside of the top four but will have much to look forward to in the coming seasons.
The youngsters of the team again showed on the weekend why followers should remain faithful to John Hayes and his first XI.
Choosing to bat first, Bayswater failed to find partnerships as the young Hills’ bowling outfit restricted the visitors to 8/200 after 45 overs.
Matt Ashlett continued on from last week’s performance, this time taking 2/44 meanwhile 16-year-old Lauchlan McIver took 2/27.
It is the fifth time McIver has taken multiple wickets in the first XI while it is the second time in a row Ashlett has taken two wickets since being promoted into the firsts only five rounds ago.
Twenty-three-year-old Shane Peake (2/23) was the other wicket taker for the Hills.
The game was called off shortly after Bayswater finished with the bat and both sides were awarded three points for the draw.
