IT’S Cultural Diversity Week at Narre Warren South P-12 College.
The Prep to Grade 6 students took part in an opening ceremony parade on Monday, with flags representing the 49 countries that make up the culturally diverse population at the school.
The students spent the day learning Irish, Bollywood and Mauritian dancing as part of Cultural Diversity Week, with the school’s message being “everyone from every cultural background belongs”. Student Rahila Ahmad was acknowledged as the Victorian winner of Cultural Diversity Quest for 2010, in the Year 10 to 12 category.
Many students also received awards for writing about cultural diversity.
The students will enjoy a variety of cultural activities and entertainment this week such as dancing, singing and a soccer game for teachers and students.
