A MAN is in a stable condition in the Dandenong Hosptial after being stabbed in the back while on his way to work in Narre Warren this week.
The man, aged in his early 50s, was walking along the Princes Highway to the Narre Warren train station about 5.45am on Tuesday when he was approached by three men.
Leading Senior Constable Jason Iles from the Frankston Embona Taskforce said one of the attackers demanded the man hand over his wallet, and as he backed away, two men assaulted him from behind with a knife.
Sen Const Iles said the men then left the scene in a White early 2000 model Holden station wagon. One of the men has been describes as Caucasian, with a goatee beard, average height and build and wearing a green hooded top.
The man was taken to the Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition. Police are calling for witnesses. Anyone with information should call Leading Sen Const Iles on 9784 5540 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
