New home for firefighters

By Kelly Yates
NARRE Warren firefighters are expecting to move into a new state-of-the-art fire station in Narre Warren South in early September.
Captain of the Narre Warren Fire Brigade Paul Hardy told the News the brigade was excited about the long-awaited move to the station, which is nearly three times bigger than the current one along Fullard Road in Narre Warren.
“We’ve simply grown out of the old station,” he said.
Construction work has started at the site along Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road.
The CFA have been looking for a suitable site for the new station for more than 10 years.
Captain Hardy said the larger station would be an asset for both the community and CFA.
“It is located between Hallam, Cranbourne, Berwick and Hampton Park Fire Brigades and will help us provide better response times to the Casey community,” he said.
“Many of our members also live in Narre Warren South, so it will be closer for them.”
The Narre Warren Fire Brigade currently has 50 members.
