CASEY residents will be able to water their gardens more often after an easing of water restrictions.
Melbourne’s water restrictions were eased from Stage 3a to Stage 3 on Good Friday as a result of what the State Government says is a record investment in major water projects, water-saving efforts by local households and welcome rainfall.
The changes mean households can water their gardens every second morning for two hours and local councils can increase watering of public gardens by 50 per cent.
“Casey residents are meeting Target 155 and are making their homes as water efficient as possible by taking advantage of government rebates,” Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley said.
Ms Graley urged the Casey community to continue its water-saving efforts.
“While we are providing more flexibility we want people to continue to conserve water,” she said.
“For the past year Casey residents have used below 155 litres per person per day, which is a fantastic effort.”
Gardeners will also be able to get a free water-efficient trigger nozzle for their garden hose at their local water saver garden centre in exchange for their old twist nozzle to mark the easing of water restrictions.
Trigger nozzles can be exchanged at nurseries across Victoria including the Cranbourne Country Garden Centre and the Squatting Frog in Narre Warren North.
