BERWICK’S Madeline Hawley says she is most looking forward to munching on a free McDonald’s lunch during her trip to South Africa to see the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The seven-year-old will get to walk onto the pitch, hand in hand with a Socceroos player, after winning tickets to the cup through the McDonald’s player escort program.
Madeline told the News she was “very happy” to win the competition, after submitting an online story book she made about her friends playing soccer.
The Grade 2 student at Hillcrest Christian College and her father Stephen will travel to South Africa for the world’s biggest international football competition on 17 June.
“I’m happy to be taking dad,” she said.
“He kept saying he wanted me to pick him. But I was always going to pick him because he watches his favourite team Manchester United on television at home.”
Mr Hawley said his daughter would also be singing the national anthem alongside the players at the cup.
