Brumby cash cow

TIMBARRA P-9 College in Berwick received a further $7 million in funding from the State Government to continue construction of new facilities for students in Years 7 to 9.
Premier John Brumby announced the funding boost when he visited the school yesterday.
He said the funding would allow stage two construction of science and technology classrooms and an expansion to the gymnasium to include drama, music and food technology facilities.
“Our government understands that parents in the City of Casey want the very best education for their children and that’s why education remains the number one priority of this government,” Mr Brumby said.
“This is an exciting day for local families and for Timbarra students, who can now look forward to learning in even better facilities.”
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said continued investment in the Timbarra P-9 College was a big boost for the growing Casey community.
“Timbarra P-9 College will provide the young people of Berwick, and nearby suburbs, with the very best education opportunities,” Mr Donnellan said.
“The Brumby Labor Government is building better schools because we agree with parents that nothing is more important than their children’s education.”
The new funding follows the $4 million provided in last year’s State Budget for stage one works, which transformed the former primary school into a P-9 school.
This was in addition to the $3 million Building the Education Revolution funding provided by the Commonwealth Government.
