SEVERAL Bakers Delight outlets are joining breast cancer survivors to raise dough for the annual Bakers Delight Pink Bun Fundraising campaign.
Bakers Delight in Endeavour Hills, Fountain Gate, Berwick and Parkhill Junction Plaza will join 630 bakeries across Australia to donate 100 per cent of the sale of ‘Pink Finger Buns’ and ‘Breast Cancer Network Australia’s (BCNA) Pink Ladies’ to 12 May.
Breast cancer survivor Elisabeth Wentworth was in-store at Bakers Delight Fountain Gate last week to chat to the community about her experiences with breast cancer and BCNA.
She provided a unique insight into the impact the Pink Bun campaign has had on her journey.
The aim of the campaign is to raise $1 million for BCNA to help fund its work in providing support and assistance to those women whose lives have been personally affected by breast cancer, and the 14,000 women expected to be diagnosed in 2010.
BCNA chief executive and breast cancer survivor Lyn Swinburne said over the past decade the Bakers Delight Pink Bun campaign has become the most significant fundraising effort on the BCNA calendar.
“We are incredibly humbled and happy to be celebrating 10 years of unwavering support from Bakers Delight,” she said.
“The fundraising campaign is an extraordinary collaboration between individual Bakers Delight bakeries, breast cancer survivors and the local community – it is inspiring for our women to see and experience such widespread and heartfelt support.”
The teams at Bakers Delight will go all out for the Pink Bun fundraiser. As well as selling pink products, bakeries and their staff will be dressed in pink and collection tins will be on the counters.
Customers are encouraged to leave a personal message in support or memory of a loved one affected by breast cancer. Tributes can be written and displayed on a Pink Lady.
Since 2000, Bakers Delight has raised more than $3.7 million for BCNA, directly supporting thousands of Australian women and their families through their breast cancer journey.
The public is urged to get behind the efforts of their local Bakers Delight bakeries in Berwick and vote for them online as they vie for the annual Pink Award at www.pinkbun.com.au.
