A HAMPTON Park woman, whose son died three years ago, believes people can lead a happy and healthy life after suffering from grief.
Alexandra Browne-Hill will hold a talk and book signing at Contours Narre Warren South to share her way of coping with grief and to encourage others to do the same.
Mrs Browne-Hill’s 17-year-old son Kieran died during a camping trip with mates three years ago, when the utehe was riding in the tray of flipped.
Devastated by her son’s death, she began to write to Kieran in a diary given to her by a close friend.
She has now published a book of the notes she wrote to her dead son to help overcome her tragic loss.
She describes The Flowering Gum as a handbook for all people who have experienced the death of a child.
“I went through all the emotions of shock, anger and denial after his death but I made the choice to get up and make him proud,” she said.
She will talk about her experience, her book and her vivid methods of coping with grief at Contours gym on Tuesday 11 May.
“Everyone suffers from grief, whether it is death, the loss of a job or even your children leaving home,” she said. “We need to talk more about all varieties of loss and know that there is a way to look at it positively. You can lead a healthy and happy life after grief.”
The talk and book signing will take place at Contours, 101 Seebeck Dr Narre Warren South, from 7.30pm. Bookings are essential, call 8794 9670.
