PARAMEDICS treated a teenager after he was hit by a four-wheel drive in Narre Warren on Wednesday 5 May.
Paramedics from Berwick and Dandenong were called to the Fleetwood Drive and Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road intersection about 5pm.
Intensive care paramedic David Kervin said when they arrived they were told the 16-year-old had just got off a bus.
“Witnesses told us he was hit by a four wheel drive just moments later,” Mr Kervin said.
“He was found a few metres away from where it’s believed he was hit.”
He said the boy was in considerable pain and that they suspected his upper right leg was broken in the accident.
“Thankfully he didn’t appear to have hit his head,” he said.
“We have however, treated him for suspected spinal injuries. With that in mind, we fitted him with a neck brace to keep him as still as possible before moving him to an ambulance.
“A drip was then used to give him pain relief medication, as well as fluids.”
Mr Kervin said given the time of day there were a number of people who witnessed the accident and were understandably distressed.
“The boy’s distraught mother also arrived at the scene and paramedics have treated her for shock,” he said.
The teenager was then taken to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition.
