NARRE Warren South P-12 College took out two awards at the VCAA State VCAL Achievement Awards.
Year 12 student in 2009 Craig Earl was awarded the prestigious VCAA VCAL School-Based Apprentice Achievement Award and the college was awarded the VCAL Teaching Team Achievement Award.
Craig won the award for his bakery apprenticeship at Baker’s Delight at Fountain Gate.
The college took out the honour for their work on a multicultural unit which was used by the Curriculum Corporation as an example of best practise in Civics and Citizenship Education.
Members of the teaching team were Kelly Lackmann, Belinda Evans, Ben Tiffen, Rob Oakley, Joe Vatucicila, Dianne Hawken and Emily Donaldson.
Senior School Assistant Principal Rob Duncan commended both Craig and the teaching team on their achievements.
“Our VCAL program at Narre Warren South P-12 College is acknowledged as an outstanding example of applied learning in educational circles,” Mr Duncan said.
“This is a credit to the students and staff who have been part of this program since its inception at our college in 2006.
“Our most recent winners are to be congratulated on maintaining the high standards of this program.”
Narre Warren South P-12 has now won eight state awards in the past four years for its high quality program.
Around 180 students are studying a VCAL certificate at Narre Warren South this year.
