THREE Hallam Senior College students have been selected for the Combined Affiliated States Australian Team for rugby league.
Jerome Henry, Kane Walker and Kieran Pickles will now compete in Pool A against NSW, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory at the Australian Schoolboys Championships in July.
The three boys played three games for Victoria against the affiliated states, Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia.
From these games, a squad of 20 was selected, nine from Victoria, three from Hallam Senior College.
The boys will now vie for the Australian Schoolboys Jumper.
Head coach of the Hallam Senior College Team, Jamie Fardell, said the boys would be competing against the best players of their age across the country.
“This is by far the best schoolboy Rugby League competition in the world and the boys get to show their talents in this forum in front of scouts and player managers across Australia,” he said.
“For our school it shows how our quality program helps develop players to their potential and give them every opportunity to fulfil their goals of one day playing in the NRL.”
Hallam Senior College has had several other notable achievements from students in rugby league.
Student Mahe Fonua debuted for Melbourne Storm Toyota Cup 20s team two weeks ago. He scored a try in the match.
On Monday the school team won the Victorian Schoolboy final, 36 to 12, for the third year in a row.
They will now progress into the ARL Schoolboy Cup, which they will travel interstate to compete.
