COMMUNITY groups who call Brentwood Park Neighbourhood House, Berwick, “home”, rallied together on Tuesday 25 May for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
More than 100 people from groups including Berwick Bridge Club, the sewing club and the exercise group, raised $704 for the Cancer Council. They enjoyed a cup of tea, cakes, treats, raffles, a word a mouth and Nutri Metics stalls and entertainment from Berwick Secondary College violinist, Matthew Zuban.
A breast cancer survivor and member of the Berwick Bridge Club spoke to the group about her experiences.
Brentwood Park Neighbourhood House co-ordinator Amanda Eames said the event was the most successful since they started three years ago. “We raised nearly double the amount we did last year,” she said. “It’s a cause close to the hearts of a lot of people, so it’s a good community strengthening thing to do.”
