RESIDENTS at the Berwick Brae Retirement Village enjoyed a cup of tea and a slice of cake last Friday as they raised money for Cancer Council Australia.
The residents raised $255.65 by holding an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea event, making it the largest amount ever collected at one of the Biggest Morning Tea fundraisers held at the retirement village.
Berwick Brae Retirement Village manager Arlene Coutts thanked Berwick Brumby’s Bakery, Woolworths in Berwick and the Berwick Cheesecake Shop for their donations. The fundraising morning tea, which was organised by the Berwick Brae social and craft clubs, ran from 10am to 3pm and attracted about 30 people.
“The vibe on the day was fantastic,” Ms Coutts said.“The residents really enjoyed it. Some had their cake and coffee and sat down chatting for a couple of hours.”
Ms Coutts said the residents also ran a craft stall on the day to help raise money for the CFA, Casey Hospital and local charity groups.
