Heart attack death

ATTEMPTS by motorists in the hills to revive a 60-year-old man failed early on Monday.
The Hallam man was travelling as a passenger in a car when he started having chest pains shortly after 6.30am.
His wife, who was driving their vehicle along Monbulk Road near Monbulk, stopped to render assistance but was unable to help.
Passing motorists also stopped to help administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but the man died at the scene.
Belgrave’s Sergeant Mick Hall said although the man had a history of heart disease, his death was unexpected.
“He had a heart condition for 20 years, but had been taking medication for it,” Sgt. Hall said.
Paramedics were called to the scene and also tried unsuccessfully to revive the man.
