FIREFIGHTERS say they are “surprised” the driver of a car that crashed into the sound barrier along the Monash Freeway walked away with only minor injuries.
Firefighter Shannon Davey, from the Narre Warren Fire Brigade, said the driver was lucky to escape the crash, which happened about midnight on Thursday 3 June in Narre Warren.
Mr Davey said the man was travelling in the right-hand lane, near the Prospect Hill Road bridge, when hehit the grass, re-corrected the car and veered across both lanes before hitting the sound barrier next to the left-hand lane.
He was taken to hospital.
