$2 taken at knife-point

A TEENAGER who was robbed of $2 at knife-point says he fears walking alone on Hampton Park streets at night.
The 17-year-old from Hampton Park, who did not wish to be named, was walking home from the Red Rooster restaurant along Somerville Road on Sunday 30 May at 7.30pm when he was approached by a man armed with a pocket-knife.
The unknown man, who was wearing a white bandanna covering part of his face, demanded money from the boy.
The teenager handed over $2.05.
“The man then took me around the corner and asked me for some notes,” the boy said.
“I didn’t have any more money. I tried to walk away, but then another man came up from behind and started dragging me up the street.”
The youth managed to break free from the men and ran to a nearby fish and chip shop for help.
He was not injured in the incident.
“I was a little shaken up at the time,” he said.
“This is the first time something like this has happened to me.”
Police are calling for witnesses.
Detective Senior Constable Mark Garrett from the Frankston Embona Taskforce said police were treating the incident as “very serious.”
“We’ve interviewed several people and are hoping any witnesses will come forward to police,” Det Sen Const Garrett said.
The man is described as being of skinny build and nearly 6 foot tall, wearing a grey hooded top with writing on front, black pants, beanie and a bandanna covering his face.
Police believe the second man was skinny and wearing dark clothing.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Frankston Embona Taskforce on 9784 5540.
