PENSIONERS and people with disabilities can receive free home safety inspections to prevent falls.
The government-funded inspections will check risks including uneven floors, poor lighting, poorly designed steps, lack of rails and loose rugs.
Archicentre is urging Victorians to utilise the free home inspections. Victorian state manager for Archicentre, David Hallett, said the danger of falls increased in winter with damp steps, fewer daylight hours and the increased use of power cords.
The inspections are available for pensioners, Veterans’ Affairs cardholders and people with disabilities. For details, call 9815 1900 or 1300 136 513.
