A MEENIYAN man has been convicted of arson that caused damage valued at $1.4 million to his mother’s baby shop in Hallam.
Mark Adrian Wear, 41, was convicted at the Melbourne County Court on 2 July. The conviction is over a fire at Snuggle Bug Baby Shop in Hallam on 5 August 2007 that destroyed most of the shop.
Casey Criminal Investigation Unit Senior Detective Kevin Cooper said it was a win for the police as it had been a “big job”. “The process took almost three years, and the investigation (into Wear) was two years,” he said.
Wear has been remanded in custody for sentencing on 25 August.
