Blanket yarns

A GROUP of women at View Hills Manor have been hard at work knitting and sewing blankets to donate to other residents.
The residents are part of the knitting group at the Endeavour Hills aged care facility and get together once weekly with their yarn and knitting needles to create the colourful blankets.
The motto for this year’s blanket donation is “keep warm with our rugs with lots of kisses and hugs,” says Cheryl Hallam, the lifestyle co-ordinator at View Hills Manor.
Ms Hallam said a number of the women from the knitting group travelled by bus to St Jude’s Narre Warren Aged Care on Thursday 24 June to hand over 15 blankets.
Last year, the group donated blankets to the high care residents at View Hills Manor Aged Care as part of the ongoing program.
“The residents were treated to a social morning tea as a thankyou from St Jude’s Narre Warren Aged Care,” Ms Hallam said.
“It was emotional and very nice to see because some of these residents don’t have family.”
Ms Hallam said the knitting group planned to create the blankets and sell them next year as a fundraising initiative.
“We need a high rise garden bed so some of the men at View Hills who are in wheelchairs, can do some gardening,” she said.
