CRANBOURNE recorded its ninth straight win after defeating Pakenham by 47 points.
Five goals in the second term and six in the last led to the strong win from the Eagles.
Cranbourne coach Doug Koop was pleased with the win.
“We haven’t beaten them for a while,” he said. “They’ve had a very good team; they’ve lost a few players and we’re travelling reasonably well. It was a good effort by the boys to beat them on their home ground. They’re certainly in the mix with four or five other teams for those last few spots (in the five), so they needed to play well and it was a good effort by our blokes to play a little bit better.”
Midfielder Ryan Davey was the Eagles’ best player. Big men Mick Boland, Troy Tharle-Adams and Curtise Barker controlled the air for Cranbourne and provided targets all day. Nick Barker and forward Matthew Fletcher (six goals) were also prominent.
Pakenham coach Ryan Cassidy was disappointed with the loss.
“They’re a very good team,” he said. “We probably weren’t up and about as a group. We didn’t have 22 contributors across the field and you can’t do that against a good team.”

The Eagles began winning the ball in the second term and kicked the only two goals of the quarter.
After the long break, Narre Warren was irrepressible, kicking 10 goals to one.
Rising star Chris Potalej played another great game for Narre Warren, as did midfielder Michael Collins, youngster Ryan Moorhouse, forward Jackson Parker, defender Jarrod Anderson and ruckman Luke Tehennepe.
