Lights have helped

CASEY traffic police say the traffic lights at the Ormond Road and Hallam Road intersection in Lynbrook have helped reduce the amount of speeding drivers.
Despite still nabbing a number of drivers speeding along the road, Senior Constable Allen Inderwisch from Casey Highway Patrol said there hadn’t been “too many” problems at the intersection following last year’s fatal crash.
“After the crash involving the teenagers, there was another young woman who died a week later at the same spot. And then a couple of days after that, a man travelled straight through the intersection and ended up in the paddock,” he said.
“Drivers at the intersection have been generally good recently.”
Sen Const Inderwisch said that a year after the tragic crash, drivers were starting to slow down around the Black Spot intersection.
“We are urging all motorists to drive responsibly everywhere in the City of Casey, not just the areas where fatal collisions have occurred,” he said.
