MP’s decree: Let there be lights

Narre Warren North Labor MP Luke Donnellan announced the extra street lighting, valued at $138,000, last week.
“Road safety is an incredibly important issue. The installation of additional lights is part of the government’s continued investment in roads in the Casey area,” Mr Donnellan said.
He said the lighting would make the intersection safer.
“In the five years to June 2009, there were 15 casualty crashes at this location, with 11 occurring around dusk or at night,” Mr Donnellan said.
Reviews of the street lighting at the intersection showed improvements were needed.
“I regularly talk with residents through my community phone calling and mobile offices and road safety is often brought up,” he said.
“Casey residents have the right to safer roads. It’s just common sense, so I’m happy to see improvements are being made at this intersection.”
The project is funded under the Safer Road Infrastructure Program, to which the State Government has committed $650 million over 10 years.
