A TEENAGER from Berwick died after a head-on car collision with a B-double truck in Clyde.
Leading Senior Constable Ken Niven from Casey Highway Patrol said the 19-year-old was driving south along the Clyde-Five Ways Road on Tuesday when his car drifted onto the wrong side of the road and collided with the on-coming truck.
The collision occurred near Moores Road around 3.30pm.
The teenager, who was driving a Toyota sedan, died at the scene.
Leading Sen Const Niven said it appeared the teenager was distracted and veered onto the wrong side of the road.
“Drivers need to be aware that a moment’s lapse of concentration can have catastrophic consequences,” he said.
The truck driver, a 50-year-old Cranbourne man, was taken to Dandenong Hospital and treated for a minor cut to his hand.
He was released from hospital after a few hours and is helping police with their investigations.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
This is the fifth fatality on Casey roads this year.
