Winners on show parade

By Bridget Cook
A CONCERT will be held this month to showcase many of the award winners from the inaugural South Eastern Arts Festival.
The festival, held in April this year, attracted more than 700 entries in music and 100 in art.
To promote next year’s festival, many of the stars and award winners from this year’s launch will perform at a concert at the Rosanove Auditorium, St Margaret’s School, Berwick, on Friday 23 July.
Festival secretary Angela Patti said the concert was also designed to thank artists for taking part in the festival and to promote them to the public.
“The committee is also hoping to raise funds to ensure the ongoing life of the South Eastern Arts Festival,” she said.
Performers will include choirs, solo singers, string, brass, woodwind, piano and guitar instrumentalists and instrumental ensembles, including St Margaret’s Drumline.
The winners of the open choirs section, St Margaret’s School, Berwick Primary School and the Vocal Ensemble Daughters of the King, will also take to the stage.
The festival is also promoting world music and is welcoming violinist Pria Schwall-Kearney to the stage, who was the face of the Portarlington National Celtic Festival held a few weeks ago.
Many other performers, including classical guitar duo Bernardo and Rumpell Soler, Huntingtower School String Trio and winner of the 11 to 13-year-piano section, William Soo, will also perform.
Tickets are available at the door. Cost is $15 for adults, $10 for concession, $5 for children and $35 for families.
