Good Guys’ good deeds

By Kelly Yates
THE Good Guys Narre Warren launched a new program this week, aimed at giving customers the chance to give back to the local community.
With more than $3 million raised since 2006, The Good Guys Local Giving Program hasresulted in more than 150 charity organisations around Australia receive funding towards essential programs, services and grassroots projects.
The Narre Warren store unveiled it new-look program, which gives shoppers the chance to vote for where their donation is to go.
Good Guys Narre Warren owner Matthew Sheedy said previously the store automatically returned a percentage from each transaction to a number of nominated not-for-profit organisations. He said customers would now be given a heart-shaped token at the checkout, which could be placed into the Token Box for either of the nominated charities.
“At the end of each three-month period, the nominated charities will receive a donation reflecting the number of tokens each has received,” he said.
He said the first three beneficiaries to appear in the token box would be Windermere Child and Family Services, Cystic Fibrosis (CF) unit at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and Ministry of Food Australia.
