FIREFIGHTERS from Berwick celebrated a number of service milestones at their recent annual awards night.
A Berwick Fire Brigade life membership was presented to firefighter Nigel Holmes, recognising 25 years of service to the brigade.
Paul Webster scored a medal for 20 years of service as a firefighter, while 10-year medals were awarded to Second Lieutenant Craig Sanderson and firefighters Kevin Gill and John Tregonning.
Five-year certificates were also handed out to firefighters Simonette Charles, Matthew Mannens and David Nichols during the event.
Berwick Fire Brigade captain Alan Boyd, who was MC for the evening, recapped a busy year which saw the brigade being called out to 425 emergency responses.
He said the brigade was at the forefront of CFA brigades, being the second busiest fully volunteer brigade in the state for the past 12 months.
Guests at the dinner also included CFA deputy chief officer Greg Esnouf, Casey operations officer Cliff O’Connor and members from neighbouring brigades.
