BERWICK’S Rex Gregory says he dreams of being an AFL footballer for Collingwood and driving a Ferrari.
The eight-year-old got a taste of life as a professional footballer when he ran out onto the hallowed turf of the MCG as part of the annual McDonald’s Mighty Footy Trip on Saturday 17 July.
Rex was one of 200 young football fans from across the state that won the competition.
The budding footballer, who plays in the under 9s at the Fountain Gate Football Club, also took part in a footy skills training clinic while at the MCG and got to watch the Collingwood and St Kilda clash from the stands.
Rex said a highlight was meeting Collingwood players Anthony Corrie and Travis Cloke.
“It was pretty cool meeting Anthony and Travis,” he said.
“I’ve been a Collingwood fan since I was born.”
Rex said he enjoyed learning handballing, kicking and tackling skills.
Rex’s mother Sandy said her son was ecstatic about winning the competition.
“He was happy, and his dad Trevor was just as happy as he is also a Collinwood fan and got to go with him to the game,” she said.
