TENNIS players will be serving up on the newly refurbished tennis courts at the Endeavour Hills Tennis Club, which were officially opened last week.
Casey mayor Lorraine Wreford and Federal Holt MP Anthony Byrne opened the courts on Thursday afternoon.
Mr Byrne said the refurbishment came about because water restrictions in the region meant the club could not regularly irrigate half the existing clay courts, to keep them at an appropriate standard.
“I am delighted that the facilities at the Endeavour Hills Tennis Club can now be utilised to their full capacity,” he said.
“The courts are significantlylower maintenance and will also save the club money in terms of ongoing maintenance and water costs. The new surface is far more environmentally friendly and can be used in all weather conditions, whereas the old surface could be washed out quite easily.”
Mr Byrne believed the investment was an example of how the Commonwealth Government and the City of Casey had worked collaboratively for the benefit of the community.
The funding was provided from the government’s Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program.
