CASEY residents are encouraged to join the campaign to plant a million new native trees and shrubs across Australia on National Tree Day.
National Tree Day, Australia’s largest community tree planting event is coming up on Sunday 1 August.
The Friends of Eumemmerring Creek, in partnership with the Friends of Frog Hollow, have joined the cause and will plant large beds in Gunns Road Reserve in Hallam from 10am on National Tree Day.
Celebrating its 15th year in 2010, National Tree Day is responsible for planting more than 15 million native trees and shrubs over the years.
Casey Council’s ‘Growing a Green Web’ program also sees an additional 15,000 native plants planted each year on public land in the City of Casey. National Tree Day is organised by Planet Ark.
