MOVING forward in life is the inspiration behind a Berwick artist’s first exhibition.
Helan Tero’s exhibition ‘Reach’, which opens this weekend at a gallery in Narre Warren North, features a series of small bright-coloured paintings she calls “tiny treasures.”
Ms Tero uses the merging of colours to represent feelings and emotions.
“We are all on a journey,” she said.
“Life brings its joys and sorrows, peaceful and passionate times, new experiences and spiritual awakenings. When bad things happen to us we need to reach forward and allow the good things to shine through. And that’s what I hope people will see in my exhibition.”
It has taken Ms Tero six months to complete the art for the upcoming exhibition, which will also showcase some of her pastel roses and flowers.
“I’m proud of it. I think it looks fantastic,” she said.
The 46-year-old says she has been “dabbling” in art and painting with acrylics, oils, watercolours and pastels for many years.
She also enjoys calligraphy and floristry and teaches art from home every week.
“I love seeing other people discover their abilities,” she said.
“I teach in a very simplistic way. I let people have a go and play around.”
Ms Tero’s exhibition opens on Saturday 7 August at the Libran Dogma Gallery in Narre Warren North from 2pm to 4pm.
The gallery is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 4pm.
All of Ms Tero’s artwork is for sale, with prices ranging from $25 to $200.
