Animals in art

OWL sculptures, chameleons and dragons are some of the themes of art on display at Brentwood Park Primary School’s annual art exhibition and book fair.
The event runs from Monday 23 to Saturday 28 August in the Berwick school’s multi-media centre.
Visual art teacher Kate Savva said the event celebrates the artwork produced by students from Prep to Grade 6.
Ms Savva said the lunchtime art club had also put together a display based on their study of Van Gough’s ‘Sunflowers’.
“The artwork uses a variety of media including paper, clay, ink, and watercolours and techniques including painting, drawing, collage, and sculpture,” she said.
As part of the event, educational books will also be available to browse and purchase at the book fair, with all of the money raised going towards resources for the school. Ms Savva said the book fair encouraged children to associate reading with fun.
“It’s a great way for families to connect by reading together and sharing a love of books,” she said.
Ms Savva is encouraging the community to come along and support the event. The art exhibition and book fair will be held from 8.30am to 9am and 3.15pm to 4.30pm during the week, and 9.30am to 12.30pm on Saturday.
