Fire’s false alarm

FIREFIGHTERS from the Narre Warren Fire Brigade say they are used to working closely with Narre Warren police, but the relationship took on a more “personal meaning” over the weekend.
The firefighters were called out to the Narre Warren police station on Saturday afternoon after the fire alarm was set off.
CFA crews from Hallam and Narre Warren both attended the Lauderdale Road station.
Fourth Lieutenant Tony Bundock said despite the alarm sounding, there was no sign of smoke or fire.
The following day, firefighters got another two calls to the police station at 6.55am and 9.33am.
Fourth Lieutenant Bundock said the same CFA crews went back to the police station.
“On the third visit, the crews isolated the alarm so that it could be inspected by the alarm company technician. It was exactly the same fire alarm circuit that activated each time, but we obviously had to attend to the calls,” he said.
“By the time we had received the third call in such a short space of time, we were pretty sure it was a false alarm, but we still had to respond to make sure there was no sign of fire.”
Fourth Lieutenant Bundock said the detector had now been repaired and caused no more problems.
