THE Rotary Club of Berwick recently held a welcome home dinner for the district’s 2010 Group Study Exchange team.
The team had just returned from its visit to Germany, which was in response to the recently completed visit to Australia by a team from Germany.
The exchange program is a vocational and cultural opportunity for business people and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the early stages of their careers.
The program, sponsored by the Rotary Foundation, provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits of four to six weeks to foreign countries. While overseas, the participants undertake visits to businesses and organisations to enhance their professional skills and to impart their own specialist knowledge to their hosts.
The team, led by past Rotary president Jean Mawhinney, included Paul Barrand, Nicole Creaser, Chantel Kleiner and Deanne Smith.
All team members made professional contacts within their individual industries that they will pursue further in the future.
The team also enjoyed great treatment at various towns including mayoral receptions and round-table discussions with town leaders and academics, as well as learning many aspects of the German culture.
