THE Narre Warren Fire Brigade’s new purpose-built catering trailer is up and running.
The trailer, which was designed by firefighter Andrew Bartles and the catering team from Narre Warren and built by Fleetweld in Dandenong, will be used to supply catering to crews at mid to long-duration jobs.
The trailer features a large slide-out barbecue connected to twin 9kg gas bottles, a 310-litre fridge, sinks on either side of the vehicle, a slide-out generator, portable large tables, stainless-steel bench tops, canvas awnings to protect crews from weather, light tower, 200 litres of water and a 200-litre collector tank for the used water.
The trailer, which has distinctive artwork on the side of it designed by firefighter David Morgan, took about six months to build.
Narre Warren Fire Brigade captain Paul Hardy said turning the trailer concept from design into reality had been a fantastic team effort.
“The purchase of the trailer was greatly assisted by a large donation from the Narre Warren Op Shop, who helped make this project happen,” Captain Hardy said.
“This is a great new asset for the brigade and District 8, and a fantastic team effort by all involved in getting it on the road.”
