RECORD crowds flocked to the Doveton Show over the weekend, with more than 12,000 people turning up to the event.
Families and show goers were treated to a range of rides, cultural performances, sheep shearing, chainsaw carving demonstrations and an arts and craft competition at the show on Sunday.
Sarah Northey, community development coordinator at the Doveton Eumemmerring Neighbourhood Renewal, declared the event a success.
“It’s becoming more popular each year,” she said.
“This was our biggest one yet.”
Ms Northey said one of the highlights of this year’s event, held at Myuna Farm in Doveton, were the “thrill” rides for teenagers.
“They kept them entertained all day,” she said.
Children at the Doveton Show also got up close to sheep, alpacas, deer and cattle, and the popular animal nursery which houses guinea pigs and rabbits, along with baby animals such as lambs and piglets.
Entry to the show was by gold coin donation, with all of the money raised going to supporting the show in future years.
