The program, which is in its ninth year and is sponsored by Fruit Growers Victoria, promotes healthy eating to children in primary schools in urban and regional centres.
Aussi Apple gave each student a slinky machine to make a special morning snack, and a show bag of goodies, including a colourful storybook, which tells how Aussi grows from a little blossom into a juicy red apple.
Co-ordinator of the Victorian apple growers program Helene Armour said the program was beneficial.
“While helping promote our product, we believe we are doing something towards enforcing a healthy eating message among young children,” she said.
“This can only result in healthier and happier children.”
