Coles around the corner

By Lia Bichel
THE largest Coles store in Victoria opened in Berwick last week, allowing residents to do all their shopping under one roof.
More than 8000 people celebrated the opening of the 4600 square metre Eden Rise store on 21 October with loads of children’s activities and live entertainment.
It provides shoppers with a range of products including mobile phones, electronics, homewares, apparel, stationery, outdoor needs and an extensive range of groceries.
The new format created an additional 115 jobs and increased the store’s team to 350.
Coles Eden Rise store manager Tas Vais said conveniences, quality and value would be the things shoppers would love most about the store’s new look.
“We’ve nearly doubled the store’s floor space to include a comprehensive range of general merchandise and apparel, and expanded the existing grocery sections with a range of new features,” he said.
“Whether it be upgradingyour cookware, checking outthe latest in mobile phones orpicking up tools for the garden, Coles Eden Rise has got you covered.”
Mr Vais said the store was equipped with new features in the grocery section including an in-store seafood specialist on hand to answer any questions and provide tips for preparing delicious meals, a butcher who can cut meat according to personal preference and an in-store bakery.
Other new features will include ready-to-go meals at our Curry Pot, fresh produce on ice, wide aisles and the option of using one of 10 self-checkouts.
The most popular item on opening day was a $39 pizza oven, with 300 sold in the first six minutes.
In the first two hours, 400 sets of $10 aluminium saucepans were sold, and in the first hour, 1000 packs of Sistema 10-pack of plastic food storage were sold.
Coles Eden Rise is locatedon the corner of Clyde and O’Shea roads in Berwick, and is open6am to midnight seven days a week.
