THE Casey Multi-Faith Network welcomed its new president at a general meeting last week.
Hampton Park resident Doctor Gamini Fonseka, who runs a radio program for Buddists, stepped into the role on Thursday.
Pamela Mamouney from the Casey Multi-Faith Network said she welcomed De Fonseka to the role and invited other residents to attend the meetings.
“The general meetings are now open to anyone, they don’t have to necessarily be a leader of a faith group,” she said.
“There are lots of people in our communities interested in promoting peace and harmony.”
Ms Mamouney said future meetings will feature presentations on St Mary of the Cross (Sister Mary MacKillop), discussions with trained facilitators about White Ribbon Day on 25 November and a tour with Aboriginal leader Bryon Powell on 27 November.
The Casey Multi-Faith Network meets every third Thursday of the month.
