Alisha off and racing

ALISHA Rutherford is hoping to be crowned Miss V8 Supercar Australia next week.
The Narre Warren resident was the winner of the online Voters Choice category earlier this year and will fly to Sydney to compete in the grand final on 29 November.
“I’m excited but really nervous as well,” Miss Rutherford said.
“I’m going on stage in front of a lot more people than I ever have before. It’s pretty daunting.”
The 20-year-old entered the competition after her talent agency put her details forward and she thought it might provide a ‘helping hand’ to get into the modelling industry.
“I’m trying to get exposure at the moment because it is really hard to get into the industry,” she said.
Since being selected in the top six in the first round of judging at Winton Motor Raceway in May this year, Miss Rutherford has been busy doing promotional work at the races as well as for King Gee and one of the competition’s major sponsors.
She’s also been doing her research on supercar drivers.
In Sydney, Miss Rutherford will compete against 18 to 22 women and be judged by a panel of judges to be named Miss V8 Supercar Australia and be the face of V8 Supercars.
The winner will travel to V8 Supercar events during 2011 as the official ambassador.
