Federal Member for Holt Anthony Byrne is calling for community, sporting and service organisations to nominate individuals for the award.
The award will be presented on Australia Day 2011.
The 2009 Holt Australia Day Award recipient, Carlos Loyola, recently received the Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to disability sport, particularly at the Doveton Special Soccer School.
“Carlos is a great example of how one can make a profound difference in the lives of others less fortunate,” Mr Byrne said.
“Through his coaching and mentoring (he) has helped the confidence and courage of countless participants of Doveton Special Soccer School.”
Mr Byrne said he was honoured to thank the individuals who made a difference in the community through community relations, sport and emergency services.
To be eligible for the award, the nominee must live or work in the electorate of Holt and have made a significant contribution in a voluntary or philanthropic capacity.
Nominations are accepted online at www.anthonybyrnernemp.com. For nomination via email, fax or mail contact the Electorate Office on 9796 7533
