THREE recipients of the Rotary Club of Berwick’s trade training scholarship program have completed their apprenticeships.
The scholarships were awarded in 2008 and Christian Schrepel, William Swords and Matthew Kool successfully completed a certificate three in their respective trades this year.
Christian studied as an electrotechnology electrician, William completed his certificate in general construction and Matthew undertook training in engineering fabrication.
The Rotary club recognised the three recipients by the presentation of a Trade Training Completion Certificate during a recent dinner.
The scholarship program will be extended by Rotary Club of Berwick, by offering three new scholarships to commence next year.
Operating under the auspices of the Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation, the scholarships will cover fees and materials for full, three-year apprenticeships at Chisholm Institute of TAFE.
Staff members in the trade areas at Chisholm Dandenong will recommend recipients for the scholarships.
The Rotary Club has also been busy at Wilson Botanic Park.
Last week, it conducted a working bee at the park as part of the club’s community service project.
About 42 Rotarians and their families took part, maintaining and improving the appearance of the garden.
Workers manually distributed 200 cubic metres of mulch on the slopes of the northern hill.
Workers were rewarded with a dinner in the park reception area.
Club president Sjaak Kusters thanked all those involved for their efforts.
