Colours for a cause

EMPLOYEES at Susan Day Cakes went through many emotions in a short space of time last Wednesday.
Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation CEO Allan Turner visited the Hallam factory last week to give a presentation on the foundation and organ donation.
“The presentation was well received by all staff,” Susan Day Cakes factory manager Frederick Borg said. “They touched a fair few different emotions in a short period of time.”
The business wanted to generate a fun environment in the factory and introduced Zaidee’s rainbow hairnets to celebrate staff’s birthdays.
“The presentation helped give substance to the idea,” Mr Borg said.
Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation aims to raise awareness of organ and tissue donation in memory of Mr Turner’s daughter, Zaidee, who died suddenly in 2004.
At the time she was the only child under the age of 16 in Victoria to donate her organs and tissues.
Mr Turner said the staff response to the presentation was excellent.
“This is a fantastic initiative that has been taken up by Susan Day,” he said.
“It takes something different to start a conversation about something that is hard.”
