SPRINGVALE South, Buckley Ridges and Berwick will head into the new year equal on points in the Turf 1 Division of the DDCA.
The weather played another significant role in the matches and players will be hoping for clearer skies next year.
In the Turf 2 Division, Coomoora extended its lead in first place with an outright win over second-placed Hampton Park.
TURF ONE
@BT Sub Sport News:HALLAM-KALORA PARK v NORTH DANDENONG
PROCEEDINGS in the close match between Hallam-Kalora Park and North Dandenong were abandoned after rain halted play.
North Dandenong were 0/8, in reply of Hallam-Kalora Park’s first innings total of 211.
The second weekend of play was abandoned.
@BT Sub Sport News:PARKFIELD v NARRE WARREN
PARKFIELD easily overcame Narre Warren at Parkfield Reserve to remain in touch with the final four.
In reply to Parkfield’s 245, Narre Warren began the day in serious trouble at 2/5. They never recovered and were dismissed in 54th over for 125.
Jarryd Leworthy made Parkfield’s only meaningful contribution, with a patient 70.
Steven Spoljaric (4/19) and Hemantha Alles (4/36) formed a devastating bowling relationship for Parkfield.
Narre Warren were sent in to bat again and they made a better fist of it, finishing 0/28 off 16 overs.
@BT Sub Sport News:MORDIALLOC v DOVETON
MORDIALLOC and Doveton split the points at Parkdale Secondary College as a result was not reached. The match was evenly poised after the first day’s play.
Doveton was 2/82 in reply to Mordialloc’s first innings total of 147.
However, poor weather halted any chance of play and the match petered out.
@BT Sub Sport News:ST MARY’S v BERWICK
BERWICK claimed the six points after a convincing win over St Mary’s at Carroll Reserve.
In reply to Berwick’s 113, St Mary’s were embarrassingly bowled out for just 33.
James Davies claimed the staggering figures of 7/8 and Cameron McDonnell 3/7.
Berwick batted again and made 7/95.
Davies top scored with 40 and Brad Francis added 30.
Although St Mary’s faired slightly better in its second innings, they were nearly dismissed again.
Matthew Crosby claimed 3/9 while Luke Byron (15) top scored in the final score of 7/55.
Turf Two
@BT Sub Sport News:COOMOORA v HAMPTON PARK
COOMOORA sent an ominous warning around the league when it defeated second-place Hampton Park outright at Coomoora Reserve.
Hampton Park’s total of 102 was easily surpassed by the Coomoora batsmen.
Robert Johnston hit 63 to lead his team, while Hampton Park’s best bowler was Chris Bateman.
Coomoora declared at 7/200 and skittled Hampton Park for just 71 runs.
Only Travis Lacey (18) and Adrian Calcedo (13) provided any resistance.
Lance Baptist claimed 3/7.
@BT Sub Sport News:HSD v MARANATHA METHODISTS
HSD was one wicket from claiming an outright victory over Maranatha Methodists at Reedy Reserve.
On the back of a brilliant knock by Justin Davis, HSD easily accounted for the lowly Maranatha Methodists at Reedy Reserve.
Davis struck 98 to guide his team from near-defeat to comfortable victory.
HSD were 5/68 chasing 100 when Davis strode to the crease.
Michael Davies provided support with 33 runs as HSD posted 9/198.
Captain Richard Hope took five wickets for Maranatha.
Maranatha batted again and were quickly reduced to 5/10 before narrowly surviving outright defeat with 9/25 at stumps.
@BT Sub Sport News:CRANBOURNE v NARRE NORTH
NARRE North was saved by the rain in its match against Cranbourne at Casey Fields.
Cranbourne’s total of 8/316 would have stretched Narre North’s batting line-up.
The draw holds Narre North in fifth place, while Cranbourne occupies sixth.
@BT Sub Sport News:ST BRIGID’S/ST LOUIS v FOUNTAIN GATE
FOUNTAIN Gate claimed its second win of the season after defeating St Brigid’s/St Louis by 35 runs at Bondi Oval.
St Brigid’s/St Louis, chasing 185, recovered from 1/0 to be 4/86 and in with a chance. However, Fountain Gate claimed four wickets for four runs to dramatically shift the match in its favour.
Despite a fighting 47 by Adam Muirhead late in the innings, St Brigid’s were bowled out in the 64th over well short of its target.
Captain Paul Dunn made 37. Tim McLaren was Fountain Gate’s best bowler with 6/56.
