DOVETON Cricket Club is grateful for its burglar alarm after the club was broken into two weeks ago.
Thieves damaged a change room door to get inside and stole $620 worth of cricket gear from the change room between 4pm on 7 January and 7am on 8 January.
Club secretary Karen Dawson said the alarm scared the thieves from going further into the building, saving the club from further damage.
“Fortunately the alarm went off because once they heard the alarm, they didn’t go into the main area,” she said.
“We’re grateful we have the alarm because who knows what they would have done.”
Ms Dawson said the City of Casey was prompt in fixing the damage and had agreed to put more security lights in the area.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the burglary to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
